When you move to the new article editor, you may encounter issues with hyperlinks. For example, links appear at the top of your article, changes do not save as expected, or the page jumps to the top while you work.
These issues are common in early access programs or right after you migrate from the legacy article editor to the new editor.
This article covers:
Immediate workarounds
If you see these issues, switch to the legacy editor.
To do this:
- In the Article settings panel, select Switch to legacy editor
- Update the hyperlink in the legacy editor
- Switch back to the new article editor
- When you switch editors, use the feedback prompt to report the issue to the engineering team
If the visual editor does not update links, edit them in HTML:
- Open the article in the new article editor
- Click the Source code icon on the toolbar
- Locate the
<a>tag, the anchor for the link you need to edit - Update the URL or link text
- To open the link in a new tab, add
target="_blank" rel="noopener"to the<a>tag.
For example:<a href="URL" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Link Text</a>. - Save your changes and switch back to the visual editor to confirm the link appears and works as expected
