JIRA integration supports attachments
Posted Jun 20, 2014
We have setup an JIRA integration to our Zendesk and would very much like it to be possible to transfers attachment when sharing tickets with JIRA and also the other way around (from JIRA to Zendesk.)

We need to transfer files between Jira and Zendesk.

Can you give another update on the scheduling of this feature?
We support large customers and make frequent use of attachments so this would be way more streamlined than work-arounds like Google Drive.
Thanks,
Andy

interesting question. hope the issue was resolved. like Bill, i know a few people that have also turned to a custom solution like zigiops to handle the issue. it's fast and easy, at the same time. the attachment issue is solved.

Hi,
The same question came up on Atlassian community.
If you are looking for an alternative to the Zendesk - Jira integration (or Zigiops), have a look at Exalate which allows for full attachment sync (including embedded images)

thanks francis I'm going to look at maybe Tray.io as we already have that

We also need this, it causes us a huge headache as our support team who triage requests and then need to be able to send tickets through to our dev team who work solely in Jira.
Without being able to attach files it makes it super hard for our dev team to verify, write acceptance criteria and do impact assessment with only partial information.

Hi Kieran Thorpe
Thank you for your feedback, I've recorded this for future consideration.
At the moment, the integration supports the ability to share/attach any existing attachments from within the Zendesk ticket, however this will create a link back to the Zendesk attachment. Any attachments within the Zendesk ticket will also be available to view from within the Zendesk Support tab in Jira; so any additional information (i.e. screenshots, HAR files, etc.) are available to view from here within Jira.

The original functionality as outlined by Sean above seems to have stopped working now and we cant even add existing attachments to Jira escalated tickets, is this intentional?

Hi Kieran Thorpe,
The ability to attach a file should be available when creating a new Jira Issue from the ticket. One an issue has been created, subsequent files attached to a ticket should be discoverable in the Zendesk Support tab under Activity.
To confirm, are you seeing the option to attach files when creating a new Issue and after having selected a Jira project? Furthermore, are you seeing files within the Zendesk Support tab?

We also require the ability to transfer files from JIRA back into Zendesk. Is this feature on the roadmap yet?

+1 to this, would be great that when creating a JIRA ticket from Zendesk (within the integration applet) the attachments selected are 'transferred' to JIRA not 'linked' - current functionality has the devs needing to download each attachment within the JIRA case to see/open it which is time consuming and unnecessary.

Any update here? Images that are added to the ZD tickets are still not visible in the Jira tickets and only showing on Jira side as links.

Any update on this request? Almost 10 years passed and you still cant send images from zendesk to jira via the integration (ticket creation )

Hi Efrat Barak Zadok,
Thanks for following up on this post.
Whilst the Jira integration is actively supported and maintained, we don't have a current roadmap of feature development and don't have plans to improve the attachments with the integration.
We appreciate folks posting on this thread to help us prioritise this feature.
Cheers,
David

We really need the Zendesk Support tab comment to be a rich text editor. All Jira comments are rich text editors, and my other plugin integrations have caught up to that. Zendesk plugin is not valuable unless we can share pictures, rich text, and other attachments.
