Product Tiers and Subset of Users

Answered

Posted Aug 19, 2021

Our company is working on a stripped-down version of our software product that would only be available to a subset of users on what we're calling the "Essentials" package. All other users would continue to have full access to the product.

Right now we have one Help Center with content to support the full version of the product. What would be the best way to host content for "Essentials" users. We looked into user segments, but that's only for 50 users per segment. Would another brand make sense? Any suggestions on how to proceed here?

Hi Bryan! I think using "filter by tag" and adding a tag to your Essential users would be a better way to go. The limit of 50 users is just when you're listing them specifically in the User Segment itself. If you filter by tags instead, it doesn't matter how many users have that tag.

Hope that helps!

Thanks, @...! Are tags configurable in Guide, or how would that work? What would I need to get that set up? Thanks again!

Hey Bryan, first you'd add the tags to your users. See Adding tags to users and organizations. Once you have the user tags in place, then create the user segment and have it filter by tags: Creating user segments for Guide user permissions

Hope that helps!
