Enable Auto-search for multi-select field on end user form

HI All,

We are using multi-select field for our end user request submission form but the search is not working when we access this field as an end user on a request form although search is working for same multi select field when we access ticket as an agent.

Based on discussions with Zendesk support team, auto search feature in the end-users interface (request form) for multi-select field is not yet supported. The only way to go through the selections is by scrolling up and down.

It is very important for us to enable auto-search on multi-select field because it's not possible for end-users to scroll 1000's of entry to select a correct options. As a next step, we are creating this post to get help from Zendesk side to fix the limitation with multi select field for end-user on priority.

Same feature is needed from Drop down list. It's a pain having a list of up than 250 choice and having to scroll and find the needed one :(

Thank you for your continued interest in this feature and for flagging the need for an update here.

We appreciate your patience as you awaited a response.

Our next release in this area will be Templating API v4 this quarter with a completely reimplemented request form that will allow you to customise the request form as part of the request page template and it also comes with a ton of accessibility improvements as well as developer experience improvements. While it will not yet come with drop down search out of the box it will make it easier to implement dropdown search via theme code than today since we are moving all the UI redering to the theme and the request helper with only provide data.

You can learn about that feature in our Announcements page when it is live.

Once that is released we can move on to delivering drop-down search out of the box for the newest version of the Copenhagen theme. We do not have an estimated timeline to share this update as we have competing priorities. But rest assured, it remains on our backlog to prioritise as soon as we are able, and we look forward to having more updates for you later this year.

I wish had more concrete news, but this is what I can share so far.
