Embedding Zapier Templates in Help Center Articles

Answered

Posted Jan 12, 2022

Hello everyone, I had a question about embedding Zapier templates in our Help Center articles. The HTML script we used previously to do this seems to suddenly no longe rwork. When this code is added to an article's source code, it immediately disappears. Any idea why this could be?

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for posting your question to the community! Just to clarify are you attempting to create an article template directly in the create a new article page in Guide? Or are you using the create article template via the theme editor?

Looking forward to your response!

Andrew Lapidus, did you ever figure out a solution here? I'm facing the same issue with Zap templates right now.

Erica Girges or someone else at Zendesk who might be able to help: To clarify, this isn't about creating article templates. It's about embedding Zap templates from Zapier into an existing (or new) article. You can see what this looks like for some Zendesk-related Zaps if you go to https://zapier.com/partner/embed/zap-templates/create#type=popular&app=zendesk. Click Generate code to see the code options.

For the HTML option, I've already added the Head snippet to our head template (hosted in GitHub) and updated the theme on the Guide end. But when I try to add the Body snippet to the actual article in the source code editor and click OK to go back to the WYSIWYG editor, the code is stripped out—if I open the source code editor again, the Zap template code is gone. We already have Display Unsafe Content enabled, so that's not the issue.

Any ideas how to make the code "stick"?

And/or is there a way to make this work with the JS code option instead by wrapping it in script tags in the source code editor or something? I haven't been able to make that work, either, but maybe I'm just missing something.

Thanks!

Hey BethAnne,

You'll be pretty restricted on what you can do within the global theme. Though, you can get around this by implementing the template in a custom page as they run essentially as their own micro-app.
