Is there a way to insert a poll in community posts?

Natively you wouldn't be able to include a Poll in community posts. A developer may be able to work their magic to customize the Guide theme to allow this but out of the box Gather posts cannot render custom code. 
 
It may be more beneficial to include a poll in a Guide article instead since you have access to the source code editor for embedding this functionality. It may also be worth looking into the custom pages functionality here: Announcing custom pages in help center
