How do you usually customize themes?

Hey fellow Zendeskers,
I wonder what the most common approach is for making changes to Guide themes when you need a customization. Do you make changes directly in the theme editor inside Zendesk? Or do you use a local development environment with Zendesk Apps Tools?

When it comes to customizing themes for Guide it really depends on specifically what you're trying to do. For most basic customizations, such as changes to an existing theme/template, you could easily just make them directly in the theme editor. That is usually the easiest approach and still ensures you don't make any breaking changes to the rest of your Guide theme.
Typically, we recommend using additional libraries or tools when the types of customizations you're looking to may exceed the scope/push the limitations of what's available in the theme editor. Examples of this would be Custom Pages or making a theme from scratch. You can do definitely do these things in the Theme Editor however, the development experience could be a little laborious for some people since you're limited to basic HTML, CSS and JS in that environment.
I would hate to see anyone struggle to build out something that could be implemented easier with a specific framework or package (such as theme preview with ZAT) and then uploaded.
Hope this helps!
