How do I generate a CSAT URL?

Answered

Posted Jan 25, 2024

Hi,

We are thinking of sending CSAT requests with an external service, because CSAT request for phone is somewhat limited on Zendesk and we need a work around in the interim.

I noticed that CSAT links follow this format:

https://support.zendesk.com/requests/<ID #1>/satisfaction/new/<ID#2>

Based on a link I found in another post: https://support.zendesk.com/requests/6655900/satisfaction/new/YDcPjHPTkJE1F2nO6qGJa8JzG?locale=1

What are the two IDs? One looks like the ticket ID, but I have no idea what that second ID is? Is it possible for me to manually generate these URLs?

Hey Jackie,

I hear you on the phone call c-sat options!  Zendesk's assumption is that the phone call will spill over into an email and the c-sat will be sent to the email.  Regarding your question:

  1. First ID (<ID #1>): This is usually the Ticket ID. It's a unique identifier for each ticket in your Zendesk instance.

  2. Second ID (<ID #2>): This is a unique hash or token associated with the satisfaction rating request for that specific ticket. It's generated by Zendesk and is used to ensure that the response is securely and accurately tied to the correct ticket and customer interaction.

The key challenge in manually generating these URLs lies in the second ID. This ID is not just a random string; it's a token that Zendesk generates to maintain the integrity and security of the satisfaction survey process. As such, it's not something that you can easily replicate or generate externally, as it requires access to Zendesk's internal mechanisms for generating and validating these tokens.

That said, 3rd party partners like csat.ai generally provide their own proprietary way to sync with the ticket and provide a seamless experience both for you and your customers. Hope this helps!
