Monitor API Limit

Posted Mar 13, 2024

Hi,

I'd like to know if there is any way, or if one can be created by your end, to monitor our api activity and alert when we are getting close to the limit, in order to proactively react to the issue, and not just after we receive a lot of 429 api errors.

Thanks.

Hey Asaf! I moved this over to Q&A for better visibility with our Community. We will move it back to the feedback forum if needed. Thank you!

Zendesk Customer Care

Hi Asaf,

Zendesk does not natively provide an alert notification feature specifically for when an API rate limit is close to being reached. Zendesk's API rate limits are in place to maintain system performance and stability, and exceeding these limits can cause HTTP 429 "Too Many Requests" errors.

While an automatic alerting system for nearing API rate limits might not be provided at the moment, you can implement some proactive measures and monitoring strategies to manage and monitor your API usage: Best practices for avoiding rate limiting

I've taken a look and found that other users are discussing similar needs here:
Notification / Warning of approaching API rate limits

You can up-vote that original post and add your detailed use-case to the conversation. Threads with a high level of engagement ultimately get flagged for product managers to review when they go through roadmap planning.
