Feature Request: Date Picker Field Restrictions

Please give a quick overview of your product feature request or feedback and note who in your org is affected by this issue [ex. agents, admins, customers, etc.]. (2-3 sentences)

Currently, when using a Date Picker field, the request is able to select or type any date at any time. It would be incredibly helpful to be able to restrict how soon or how far in the future someone can select when using these date pickers. This affects the organization as a whole. 

 

What problem do you see this solving? (1-2 sentences) 

Having the ability to restrict Date Picker options would give our teams peace of mind that dates are being entered too soon (for scheduling, as an example) or too far in the future (quality assurance review analyst accidentally putting a date of 2029). 

 

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool? What happened? How often does this problem occur and how does this impact your business? (3-4 sentences)

This problem is encountered daily.

 

Are you currently using a workaround to solve this problem? (If yes, please explain) (1-2 sentences)

Not at this time.

 

What would be your ideal solution to this problem? How would it work or function? (1-2 sentences)

My ideal solution would be to give us the option to choose whether we want to have restrictions on a date picker field. It would give us the ability to choose something like:

 

Restrict dates to [#][days/weeks/months/years] in the [past/current/future] of current date

 

Basically, an example would be:

Restrict dates from being select 2 days from the current date

Restrict dates from being select 2 months in the future of current date

 

 

Something along these lines. I'm not exactly sure how to explain the vision here, but I'm sure someone else in the community will/can chime in to expand on the vision.

Our company relies on Zendesk (ZD) for internal staff requests, and we've encountered a challenge with the due dates that requesters select. Many users select same-day due dates, which is often unachievable with our existing workflows.

To ensure that tickets are properly prioritized and handled in the correct order, it is essential to restrict the dates selectable in the "Due Date" field. Ideally, we need the ability to disable dates within a 2-3 day window (depending on the priority) from the current date.

Implementing this feature would greatly reduce the workload for our teams, who currently spend a significant amount of time sorting and reordering tickets to align with realistic processing times.
