how do i customize my chat widget in react? Docs are not working

I tried to follow this docs and it doesn't work

for example i tried

ZendeskAPI("webWidget:on", "chat:start", () =>

console.log("chat has been started")

);

But this docs is working fine

but there is not much options to do in this docs like changing theme color etc.

how do i do it?
