Question
Can I send out mass emails campaigns to customers from Zendesk?
Answer
No, there is no native way to send out mass email campaigns within Zendesk Support. However, there are some apps that can be used to accomplish this. These apps allow users to send mass email campaigns to end-users in their Support account.
Suggested apps for sending email campaigns:
- Proactive Tickets
- Mailchimp (This app requires that customer lists be enabled in your Zendesk Support account)

I would suggest using this free app Proactive Campaign.
Thanks for sharing John!
Hi John, i would like to start using the Proactive Campaign app, when i select emails from the list and i click on send email to the list, it still gives me the whole contact pool.
is this an issue you're facing ?
Hi Hamza, how did you go with that issue? I too was trialing Proactive Campaign as well and yep it gives the whole contact pool.
So we can create a new Contact List, but it grabs the whole Zendesk user directory (which could be thousand plus users) then you'll need to remove remove the contacts you don't want! However, I found this to be dangerous, because doing this actually Deletes the user from Zendesk :( (unless I'm doing something wrong)? Plus it creates a ticket and processes triggers, sends emails to support groups, which we don't want.
Maybe this isn't the app for me: What I want is to send a bulk email to a select group of users per client organisation to notify them of P1 and P2 Incidents. I want to do this via Zendesk, using Macros as templates.
The distribution lists will contain users that will never raise a support request (like customer CEOs, etc) but want to be notified of high priority incidents.
Until I can find a way of doing this in Zendesk, I'll have to keep using the good old manual email method.
Hey anyone, please let me know if you've come across such an app in Zendesk. I've searched and will keep searching.
Thanks.
Thanks for sharing your findings Jack! Our solution would be to use the Customer Lists add-on alongside the Proactive Tickets app but that doesn't sound like that will work for you. Hopefully, others can join in and offer up an alternative solution.
Cheers!
Thanks Brett. I might use another solution for my requirement. Sendgrid seems to do the trick.
Cheers.
