How do I add or upload a new greeting for Talk?
Answer
To add a new greeting:
- Navigate to Admin icon (
) > Channels > Talk > Greetings > Add a greeting.
- There are two ways to add a new greeting:
- Upload an existing MP3 or Wav (10MB max) file from your computer.
- Record a new greeting directly in the interface.

Is there no longer a way to record a greeting via a phone? We have agents working in different offices so it was easier for an admin to ping their phones and they could record their personal greetings over the phone.
Hey Jeremy,
Zendesk only provides the default recording when you enable Talk. If you'd like to upload a new custom recording, that would need to be created on your end or by a 3rd party.

If we add multiple hold greetings (eg: different songs) would it be randomized what greeting customers get?

Does Zendesk offer the option to do the recording (either a text to voice or an actual person to do the recording) for a fee?

Hold greetings are assigned per talk number, so each track would play in accordance with what hold greeting is selected. We offer a variety of songs by using one long mp3 that has multiple songs stitched together.

Thanks for the insight - I do also remember that number being available last year, and hope it can be brought back in some capacity. Our use case is that departments often need to update their greetings, and its cumbersome to force them to do it on their computer and send me the file for upload as the Zendesk admin.

Hi Gabrielle,
Recording a greeting can only be done by recording straight from your browser or uploading a file. I do remember being able to call out to a specific number to record the greeting but this is no longer available.
That being said, your agents can record their greeting from their own computer and provide the file for an admin to upload on their behalf.
