You can track both your leads and contacts by industry using the Industry field. This is a pre-defined, but editable, field that is available on the Leads and Contacts settings pages. After you’ve marked your leads and contacts by their industry, you can use filters to view and manage those leads and contacts.
Because the industry field is a predefined element in Sell, it’s already been added to the profile information for leads and contacts. For example, you can edit a lead’s profile information and add their industry.
If you want to edit the list of industries, an Admin user can edit the leads and contacts settings pages.
To edit the industry field for leads and contacts
- Click the Settings icon (), then select Customize > Leads or Customize > Contacts.
- On the Fields tab you’ll see the Industry field. To edit the list of industries contained in the list, click the Edit button.
- Add or delete choices as needed, then click Save.
To view and manage your leads and contacts by their industry, you can add the industry field as a view filter option and create smart lists, and so on.
Are the default values for this field leveraged anywhere else? We would like to replace the values with custom values for our company but want to be sure they are not leveraged elsewhere
The industry field is being utilized in Explore and in Smart Lists. However, it also adjusts depending on the value that you have designated. Hence, you are free to modify it however you like.
