We’re excited to announce that starting today, end users can now turn on two-factor authentication for help center.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide a secure and reliable environment for your end users, we have implemented this feature to enhance account security.
This announcement includes the following topics:
What is changing?
When end users turn on two-factor authentication in their help center profile, they will be asked to enter a passcode after entering their password when signing in. Users can get the passcode from a two-factor authentication app (such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Duo Mobile) installed on their mobile device. Users must install a two-factor authentication app on their mobile device before turning on two-factor authentication in help center.
Since this option is only for end users to turn on for themselves, no action is needed from the Zendesk admin.
Why is Zendesk making this change?
Zendesk is making this change to better align with security best practices and industry standards. In today’s security climate, relying on a password as your only authentication method is not enough, and turning on two-factor authentication helps ensure that the credentials being used are connected to a valid user.
What do I need to do?
The feature is now available for end users to turn on in their user profile. No action is needed from the Zendesk admin.
