Filtered views make it easy to switch between different filter settings on a single dashboard tab. A filtered view acts as a bookmark that returns a viewer to a saved state within a dashboard tab without having to manually set the dashboard’s filters.
This article contains the following topics:
Creating a filtered view
You can create a filtered view that saves a certain dashboard filter configuration. A filtered view applies only to the tab you’re on when you create it.
To create a filtered view
- Open an existing dashboard, or create a new one.
- Select the tab you want to create a filtered view for. Filtered views apply at the tab level, not the dashboard level.
- If you haven’t already, add the filters you want the dashboard to have.
- Set the filter values as desired. The values you select will be used in the filtered view.
- Click the Filtered views icon (
) in the right sidebar.
- In the Filtered views panel, click the plus sign (+).
- In the Name field, enter a short, descriptive name for the filtered view.
- (Optional) Select Set as default if you want this filtered view to appear by default when a viewer opens the current dashboard tab.
- Click Create filtered view.
Editing a filtered view
For an existing filtered view, you can update its name and whether it’s set as the default filtered view for a dashboard tab. To change the filter values saved within a filtered view (in other words, the data that the dashboard displays), you must create a new filtered view instead.
To update a filtered view’s name or default status
- Open an existing dashboard.
- Select the tab you want to edit a filtered view for.
- Click the Filtered views icon (
) in the right sidebar.
- Hover over the filtered view you want to update, click the options menu
(
), and select Edit.
- To change the name, update the Name field.
- To configure whether this filtered view appears by default when a viewer
opens the current dashboard tab, select or clear Set as default.
Tip: You can also set a filtered view as default by clicking the options menu in the Filtered views pane and selecting Set as default.
- Click Save.
Deleting a filtered view
If you no longer need a filtered view, you can delete it. Deleting unneeded filtered views prevents the dropdown list at the top of the dashboard from becoming cluttered.
You can’t delete a filtered view that’s currently set as the default.
To delete a filtered view
- Open an existing dashboard.
- Select the tab you want to delete a filtered view for.
- Click the Filtered views icon (
) in the right sidebar.
- Hover over the filtered view you want to delete, click the options menu
(
), and select Delete.
Applying a filtered view to a dashboard tab
When viewing a dashboard tab, you can apply different filtered views to quickly switch back and forth between saved filter states. This lets you quickly compare information on the same dashboard tab without having to manually reset your filters each time.
To apply a filtered view to a dashboard tab
- Open an existing dashboard.
- Click the filtered view drop-down (
) at the top of the dashboard and select the filtered view you want to see.
The dashboard tab updates to show you the data filtered according to the filtered view you chose.

Hey,
Thanks that this is finally live.
Does it also improve the loading of the Dashboards? Do you have some numbers here?
I think it should be better because less data is requested when we access a Dashboard and have a standard filter, or?

Hello @Johannes Garske,
Thank you for your feedback and interest in filtered views.
To decrease the loading time of the dashboard, you can add a time filter.
In the new dashboard builder, any time filter will initially load data related to the last 30 days.
If you want to further optimize the dashboard's initial load time, you can choose a smaller time frame and set it as the default using filtered views.
Regards,
Walter

Hey,
it also seems like that the default filters are not working.
Each time i switch between tabs i have the standard setting there until i unclick the bookmark and then reasctivate it.
Could you please have a look at this?
Best,
John

Hello @John Garske,
Thank you for reporting the issue. I'm sorry to hear that you encountered this problem.
I'm happy to inform you that we have just resolved the issue with applying default filtered views when moving across tabs.
Best regards,
Walter

Is there a plan for a similar function to classic builder where default filters/bookmarks can be hidden? I'd like to be able to pre-filter a dashboard in a way that is not adjustable for the viewer without having to clone and manually filter all underlying reports.

I like filtered views so far. I have two suggestions:
Thanks!

We would not want the filtered views to be editable by the viewers of the dashboard. Can this be hidden? I know we have dashboards which extensively uses the hidden bookmarks across multiple tabs and losing this functionality or not having a workaround would be very problematic.

Hi Jay Krishnan and Sarah Cullerton,
thanks for your feedback about filtered views.
In the case you want to have filters that are not editable by viewers, I would recommend you look into Dashboard restrictions, as they allow you to filter across multiple tabs and maintain a single dashboard for different audiences.

Walter

Hello Walter Bellante ,
our current setup makes extensive use of bookmarks with hidden ‘Change Attribute’ widgets to switch between Daily/Weekly/Monthly reporting in the same dash. Is there a way to replicate this reporting experience with the new dashboard builder?

Hi Kostas Zioulis ,
we plan to rebuild the change attribute in the new dashboard builder, however, we don't have yet an ETA for it.
You can learn more about what features will be supported here.

Walter

Hey community, is it possible to have the scheduled delivery based on the views?
For example:
delivery view A, weekly, to X,Y, Z users
delivery view B, daily, to W, K, U users
Thank you in advance!

Filtered view is not fixed. I've created, applied, and saved. The BETA Dashboard reverts to default. Releasing a version of a product, suppling 10 - 30 links for people to click through and referencing 5 year old documentation on a new product is frustrating in the least for users of your product.

Are filtered views per-tab? How do I create a dashboard-wide filtered view? E.g., to have last-week/last-month/last-year views that apply to every tab.
I can understand why you'd want to have tab-specific filtered views, but there should be dashboard-wide filters as well.
