July 30, 2026 July 30, 2026 August 10, 2026

We're excited to announce the addition of tabs, accordions, and callouts to the help center article editor toolbar. These new components let you structure and highlight content directly in the editor.

This announcement includes the following sections:

  • What is changing?
  • Why is Zendesk making this change?
  • What do I need to do?

What is changing?

You can now add the following article components to your help center articles directly from the article editor toolbar:

  • Tabs: Organize related content into selectable panels so readers can switch between grouped content (for example, different operating systems, products, or roles) in a single space without losing their place.
  • Accordions: Create expandable and collapsible sections so readers see the section titles first and expand only what they need. Accordions reduce scrolling on long articles, making them ideal for FAQs, troubleshooting steps, and optional guidance.
  • Callouts: Create styled blocks that visually separate important information from the surrounding text. Use one of the four supported callout types (Info, Warning, Error, and Tip) to flag warnings, tips, reminders, and key details at a glance.

Why is Zendesk making this change?

Well-structured content is easier to read and more effective at helping customers help themselves. Until now, achieving layouts like tabbed content or collapsible sections often required complex custom HTML, which was difficult to maintain and sometimes caused errors or styling inconsistencies in the editor.

Customers have previously reported issues where manually inserted HTML blocks made articles harder to edit or where theme styling was nullified by default editor behaviors. These new components bring that structure natively into the editor using a simplified configuration that leverages standard headings and content. This allows anyone on your team to create clear, organized, and visually consistent articles  without developer involvement.

What do I need to do?

You don't need to do anything. These components will automatically appear in the article editor toolbar by the end of the rollout at the latest and are available for all plans.
