Important: This integration is only available for customers using the Legacy versions of Zendesk Chat. For help determining which version you have, see Determining your Zendesk Chat account version.
If you're on a paid Big Cartel plan, follow the steps below to install the Zendesk Chat widget on your Big Cartel site.
To add Zendesk Chat to your Big Cartel site
- From your admin panel, choose Store and then Settings
- Turn on Maintenance mode and Save
- Navigate to Customize Design.
- Navigate to the Advanced tab.
- Choose Layout then enable Custom Layout.
- Copy and paste the Zendesk Chat embed code before the </body> tag at the end of the layout HTML.

- Click Done .
