When you add live data widgets to your Explore Enterprise dashboards, these don't support multiple selections. For example, your report contains the Solved tickets live widget and you want to only show results for the ticket groups named Explore group one and Explore group 2.
In this Explore recipe, you'll learn how you can use bookmarks and dashboard tabs to let you examine live data for multiple groups on separate tabs within a dashboard.
For help with creating dashboards containing live data and live data filters, see Adding live data and live filter widgets to dashboards.
This recipe contains the following sections:
What you'll need
Skill level: Intermediate
Time required: 15 minutes
- Zendesk Explore Enterprise
- Editor or Admin permissions (see Giving agents access to Explore)
- Ticket data in Zendesk Support
- One available live data widget and one available live data filter for each dashboard tab you want to add. For details about live data widget limits, see Live data limits for Explore dashboards.
Creating the dashboard
In this section, you'll create a dashboard containing two tabs. Both tabs will show the live number of solved tickets.
The first tab, Tab 1 will show the current number of solved tickets for the Explore group one group. The second tab, Tab 2 will show the current number of solved tickets for the Explore group two group. This enables your report viewers to report solved tickets for each group in the same dashboard without having to configure any filters.
Creating the dashboard
In this first step, you'll create the basic dashboard containing two tabs, one for each group.
To create the dashboard
- In Explore Enterprise, create or open a dashboard. For help, see Creating dashboards.
- With the dashboard in Edit mode, click Add > Add tab. You'll now have a dashboard with two tabs.
- Double-click the first tab (named Untitled) and rename it to Tab 1.
- Double-click the second tab (also named Untitled) and rename it to Tab 2.
- Click the dashboard title (currently Untitled) and give it a name,
for example, Live tickets by support group.
You'll now have a dashboard that looks like this:
Configuring the first tab
In this section, you'll set up the first dashboard tab. This tab displays live data for the number of solved tickets. It uses a live data filter and a bookmark to default to showing only data from the Explore group one support group.
To configure the first tab
- In Explore Enterprise, create or open a dashboard. For help, see Creating dashboards.
- With the dashboard in Edit mode and Tab 1 selected, click Add > Add live data.
- From the Add live data list, choose Support - Solved tickets, then click Add live data. Explore adds the Solved tickets live data widget to your dashboard.
- Click Add again, then click Add live data filters.
- From the list of live data filters, choose Support - Ticket group, then click Add filters. Explore adds the Support - Ticket group live data filter to your dashboard.
- From the Support - Ticket group live data filter you just added, choose Explore group one, then click Apply. The live data widget only displays solved tickets for Explore group one.
- Finally, configure a bookmark to ensure that this tab of the dashboard always opens showing solved tickets from Explore group one. Click Add > Add bookmark.
- On the Bookmark panel, check Hide reset button, then click Create bookmark from current state.
- Give the bookmark a name like Explore group one, click the pin icon to make this the default bookmark, then click Close.
You'll finish up with a tab that looks similar to the following. Whenever you open the tab, the solved ticket are shown live for Explore group one.
Configuring the second tab
Now, you'll set up the second tab. The method you use to configure this tab is very similar to how you set up the first tab.
To configure the second tab
- Follow the instructions in Configuring the first tab
with the following changes:
- Before you start, click Tab 2.
- In the Support - Ticket group live data filter, choose Explore group two (see Step 6 in the previous procedure).
- Name the bookmark Explore group two (see Step 9 above).
You'll finish up with a tab that looks similar to the following. Whenever you open the tab, the solved ticket are shown live for Explore group two.
Finishing things up
The final thing to do is to hide the bookmarks you added. Because you locked each to only one group and can't be configured by dashboard viewers, there is no need to display them.
To hide the dashboard bookmarks
Perform the following procedure on each of the two dashboard tabs, Tab 1 and Tab 2.
- With the dashboard in Edit mode, click the down arrow next to the bookmark.
- From the list of options, click Hide. The bookmark is hidden from
view.
Tip: If you want to restore the hidden bookmarks to make further changes, with the dashboard in edit mode, click Show hidden widgets.
