We’re happy to announce article view permissions for multiple user segments!
With this release, Guide admins can now select up to 10 user segments when defining the visibility permissions of an article.
This announcement answers the following questions:
What is changing?
Previously, admins could only select one user segment when setting view permissions at the article level. If there was a need to create articles that were visible to multiple segments of users, admins had to create a new user segment to set visibility permissions. This meant that you had to create lots of user segments to cover all the different permutations of your audiences.
This new feature allows you to define user segments once and reuse them each time you need to create complex viewing permissions. Instead of creating new user segments to include users that belong to separate user segments, you can simply add up to 10 different user segments in the Viewing permissions area of the article settings. Users from all defined segments will then be able to view your article.
Why is Zendesk making this change?
The ability to add multiple user segments to articles simplifies the management of user segments and makes creating and managing article visibility permissions much more efficient.
What do I need to do?
You don’t need to do anything. Multiple user segments are available on any account on an Enterprise plan. To learn more, see Setting view permissions on articles with user segments.
