We are thrilled to announce the General Availability (GA) of our new dashboard builder for Explore. This milestone marks an exciting step forward in simplifying how you create and maintain your dashboards. Additionally, we'll soon begin phasing out the legacy dashboard builder.
This announcement answers the following questions:
What is changing?
The new dashboard builder is designed to enhance your overall experience by providing more intuitive tools and functionalities. For the next four months, you will continue to be able to create and edit dashboards using both the legacy and new builders.
After these four months, we will gradually phase out the classic builder, ending in Q4 2025. Don't worry; we'll update you every step of the way by email and in-product notices. You can learn more about the transition plan here.
Additionally, the GA release introduces some essential features aimed at replicating some important parity features and solutions to ease the transition:
-
Schedules: You can easily schedule recurring emails of dashboards in Excel, or CSV format for recipients (see Scheduling Explore dashboard deliveries).
Importer Tool (Beta): The migration tool to help you transition your dashboards seamlessly. Currently in beta, this tool will later allow bulk migration and deletion of multiple dashboards. - Migration status: A new column in the dashboard library will help you identify whether your dashboard is ready to be migrated and guide you on which components might need your attention.
- Importing recipients: When migrating a dashboard, you can share it with the same audience as the source dashboard. This option is available during migration and later when sharing the dashboard.
Why is Zendesk making this change?
Our goal with the new dashboard builder is to provide you with an easier and more efficient way to visualize your data regardless of your analytics background. This tool:
- Simplifies the creation of new dashboards: Templates guide you in creating dashboards with predefined reports and filters based on common tasks and reporting best practices.
- Tailors a single dashboard to different audiences: Restrictions adapt dashboards to various audiences, providing tailored insights and preserving data privacy.
- Enhances usability: A snap-to-grid layout simplifies the movement and resizing of dashboard components and makes customization easier than ever.
What do I need to do?
