Zendesk is excited to announce support for adding images to custom object records.
This announcement includes the following topics:
What is changing?
With this release, Zendesk admins now have the option to allow team members to upload images to custom object records. This setting is configurable for each custom object. Images that are uploaded are displayed as thumbnails in the record list, on the individual record's page, in lookup relationship field values, and in the record preview panel. These images might be product pictures, brand logos, or photos of assets represented by the custom object record.
This also extends to the APIs, which allows you to build visually-rich end user experiences when embedded in the help center, a mobile app, or an internal dashboard.
Why is Zendesk making this change?
This release is another enhancement to the new custom object experience for all users. Visual identifiers can reduce errors by making it easier to scan and identify records. This is especially true in cases where an object has a lot of records. Whether your managing a few or thousands of products, assets, and vendors, an image adds instant context.
What do I need to do?
This setting is available to all accounts with access to new custom objects. To start using images in your records, create or edit a custom object and select the option to allow the addition of images. For more information, see Adding, replacing, or removing record icons.
