What is changing?

Bulk updates in views are now more reliable and safer. When a bulk action is initiated, the system records each ticket’s last-updated timestamp and sends that timestamp with the request. During the update, the system compares the timestamp in the database to the timestamp sent with the bulk action; if they match, the update proceeds for that ticket. If they differ (meaning the ticket was modified after the bulk action began), the system skips that ticket, returns an error for that individual update, and continues processing the remaining tickets.

This prevents unintended changes caused by tickets that no longer meet the view’s filters or were edited in another tab or session. The improvement is rolling out to General Availability (GA) and requires no action from agents.

Why is Zendesk making this change?

We’ve improved bulk actions to prevent conflicts when multiple agents try to claim the same tickets simultaneously. Previously, timing mismatches could cause bulk updates to fail or produce unexpected results if a ticket was edited while the bulk action was running. Now, when a bulk action starts, we record each ticket’s last‑updated timestamp and compare it during processing. Any ticket that was changed in the meantime is skipped (only that ticket returns an error) while the rest continue to be processed.

What do I need to do?

This feature is automatically available for your account. No action is needed.
