Use the procedure in this article to share a link to a dashboard with external users who do not have a Zendesk account. The link can also be used to display the dashboard on a television or monitor. Users will have view-only access to the dashboard with the following security measures:
- Interactivity options are disabled when you share dashboards externally. For details about interactivity options, see Interacting with dashboards.
- Any IP restrictions configured in your Zendesk instance will be enforced and links will only be accessible from that IP range. For details about IP restrictions, see Restricting access to Zendesk Support and your Help Center using IP restrictions.
This article contains the following sections to help you enable link sharing, then share external links to Explore dashboards:
Enabling external link sharing
Before you can start sharing external links, an account owner or admin must enable this from the Explore admin menu.
To enable external link sharing
- In Explore, open the Admin menu (
) on the left panel, then select Dashboard sharing permissions (
).
- On the Dashboard sharing permissions page, enable the Enable creating public links to dashboards option.
- When you are finished, click Save.
You can now create public links to dashboards. For more information, see Configuring Explore Enterprise dashboard sharing permissions.
Sharing an external link to a dashboard
Now that you've enabled sharing dashboard sharing, you can start creating and sharing links.
To share a dashboard externally
- Open the Share dashboard menu using one of the following methods:
-
From an open dashboard: From the Share drop-down list choose Share.
-
From a dashboard in preview mode: Click Share.
-
From the Dashboards library: Click Share from the settings (
) drop-down list to the right of your dashboard's name.
-
From an open dashboard: From the Share drop-down list choose Share.
- The Share dashboard page opens.
- From the Share dashboard page, click Edit.
- On the Link settings page, click Enable link sharing.
- Enter a secure password for the dashboard. You'll need to let your dashboard viewers know what the password is. If you don't want to password-protect the dashboard, disable the Password protected checkbox (not recommended).
- When you are finished, click Save.
The Share dashboard page indicates that link sharing is now on. You can click Edit to modify your settings or Copy link to copy the dashboard link to your computer's clipboard.
Users can click the link to open the dashboard in a web browser or display the dashboard on a television or monitor.

Can I schedule a report to be sent to the external users (end users) like we do for the internal staff?
Hi Sachin Kotekar, this currently can't be done if a user doesn't have a Zendesk account. However, if the user is an end user with a Zendesk account then you can schedule the dashboard. See https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360053654653
Thanks Rob for the quick response, I appreciate.
Can we set a timezone for those accessing our external link?
This defaults to coordinated universal time even though we are in Melbourne
Hi Sam Cunningham, thanks for the question. I don't believe this is currently possible, but it's well worth you submitting this as a request to our Explore feedback forum at https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/topics/360001200913
This will give it more visibility to the product team and also other customers who will be able to vote fo the request. Thanks!
Hi Rob!!
In our company we have Zendesk support professional and we don't have the option to configure dashboard sharing permision. Why is that? I leave an image how I see the menu. By the way I'm admin and owner of the zendesk account
Hi Jorge Yeber, you'll need to be using Explore Enterprise or the Explore Professional (Legacy) plan to use this feature (see the note at the top of the article for more about Explore Legacy). If you are already using one of these, do let me know and I'll open a ticket so the team can investigate further. Thanks!
Hi,
When I "publicly" share a dashboard and add a password then the link works fine when I paste it in the Firefox address bar.
However, when I put this link in a Guide article the same link doesn't work. It seems to redirect to our Guide homepage. Even when I check 'open in new tab' the link doesn't work. Again, when I copy it from the link and paste it in Firefox, the dashboard appears.
Any insights? (pun intended for those migrating ;-) )
