To comply with local regulations, you must provide specific documents that verify your identity (as an individual or as a business), and confirm that your residence corresponds with the location of your phone number. The requirements that specify what type of proof of identification is required, if any, differ from country to country according to local regulations.
Note: It's important that you find out exactly which documents you need to provide to the local regulators for proof of identification.
This article covers the following topics:
Verifying your identity
To provide identity verification
- On the Sell sidebar, click the Settings () icon, then go to Communication Channels > Voice and Text.
- Click the Verification tab and upload the required documents.
The maximum file size for each document is 5 megabytes.
Identifying a business
If your business is the end user, you must provide a company identification document that includes the company's registration address, for example, excerpts from the trade register, or the company's founding documents. In addition, you must provide the company name and VAT code.
After completing verification, you must reach out to Zendesk support to have the number assigned to your business.
Note: After your company has provided identification (business identification verification) for a specific country, the identification is valid for all users on the account for that country. You must contact support to assign the number. There is no need for individual users to add any additional documents, unless there is a change in address or Twilio requirements, or their location is different from the rest of the company.
Identifying an individual
If you as an individual are the end user, you must provide valid government-issued photo identification, for example, a passport, national ID card, or a driver’s license. The document must contain your address.
After completing verification, you must reach out to Zendesk support to have the number assigned to you.
Note: The address on the documentation provided must match the locality of the prefix for the phone number you wish to purchase.
