Am I reading this correctly that the storage dashboard will be visible on all instances by next Friday (7th December)?

    Hi Andrew
Thanks for asking! There are some exceptions after Dec 7. The storage dashboard will not be visible for:

    • Self-services accounts. The dashboard will be released at a later date for these accounts.
    • Customers who have accounts with temporary agents (agent months) or Enterprise License Agreements (ELAs) will see storage usage information on the dashboard, but they will not see usage limitations or usage notifications.

See Managing data storage for more information.

Hi, Will this dashboard be updated with information of the Data Center Location (region) that is chosen for the account (when added on and chosen)?

    Hello Grete
The dashboard does not show the Data Center Location. For feedback about our products or enhancement requests, you can post in the Product Feedback forum monitored by our Product Managers.

For anyone that wants to know the difference between the two different storage types and what they contain. I had to ask Support as I couldn't readily find this info anywhere. This is the information shared by Support.

    1. Data Storage: Data storage refers to the storing of all structured data that Zendesk generates and uses to function, such as ticket data, user profiles, tags, comments, and other metadata associated with running your Zendesk Support instance. The data is stored in databases which are designed for quick access and manipulation, allowing Zendesk to function effectively and efficiently.

    2. File Storage: File storage pertains to the storage of unstructured data, such as attachments to tickets or community posts, profile photos, and other files you or your users upload to Zendesk. These are typically stored in a file system, which might be physically separate from the system that stores and manages your database.

Hence, when Zendesk refers to Data and File storage, it’s distinguishing between the storage of structured data (Data Storage) used in the running and operation of your Zendesk product, and the storage of unstructured data/files (File Storage) that users or agents might upload in their interactions with the support services.

Both essential, but serving different purposes and managed differently.

Eligible sales-assisted accounts can purchase more storage directly from the Subscription page. See Buying more storage. The rollout starts on Jan 16, 2024 and the rollout is complete on Jan 22, 2024.
