We're excited to introduce a new, convenient way to manage and work with HTML code in your content blocks. Instead of sifting through the source code editor to find the code that corresponds with an element, you’ll be able to use the HTML block for that element to quickly access and edit its code.
This announcement includes the following topics:
What’s changing, and why?
We know that our customers love to customize the source code of their content by incorporating advanced HTML code and scripts.
Until now, it was only possible to edit code in the source code editor. With HTML blocks, you can copy and paste the code for HTML elements in the content block editor, in the exact spot you want it to appear to users.
The code is then wrapped in an HTML block and displayed within the content block editor.
You can click the HTML block to open a source code editor that displays only the code for that block. You can use this focused view to edit the HTML for your selected content without scrolling through the source code for the entire content block.
How will this affect me?
With HTML blocks you can add and edit complex HTML and advanced scripts to your content in a more controlled and visual manner. For example, you can create a content block containing a script that generates a table of contents, then place that content block into your knowledge articles. You could also experiment with many other elements, such as accordions, providing locations with maps, and more.
What do I need to do?
You don’t need to take any action. If you are an Enterprise customer, you can start using HTML blocks in the content blocks editor immediately. For more information, see Using HTML blocks to edit code in content blocks. If you would like to learn more about content blocks see Reusing content with content blocks.
