The article settings panel has been redesigned to group common management and placement functions together, resulting in a better organized and efficient article editor space. Grouping common functions together helps you to work more efficiently in the editor, focusing on the changes you need to make while avoiding the distraction of a cluttered workspace.
In addition to reorganizing the article settings panel, we are also introducing a new shortcut to the existing Revisions sidebar, which you can use to quickly access an article's revision history.
This announcement includes the following topics:
What is changing?
Previously, all article settings were contained within a single panel, which meant they were always visible, creating visual clutter when there was rarely a need to update them. When you wanted to update a setting, you had to scroll through all of the settings to find the one you needed.
The new article settings layout groups common management and placement functions into two logical sections, resulting in a more organized and efficient article editor space. This change makes it easier to focus on creating content, or when necessary, finding the settings that you need. The panel also offers a clear and simple overview that displays the current article settings that are in place.
We are also introducing a new shortcut for article revisions to help you quickly access this important editing function from wherever you are in the article editor. These changes are intended to provide an efficient workflow with reduced distractions, making article settings and revisions easier to work with than ever before.
Why is Zendesk making this change?
Grouping article settings not only helps you to work more efficiently with the articles, but also sets the stage for introducing article multiplacement in the future.
What do I need to do?
No action is necessary, this change will be available for all customers on all plans.
