Zendesk is excited to announce the release of the filtered search API for custom objects.
This announcement includes the following topics:
What is changing?
When custom objects was initially released in September 2023, it included a basic search endpoint, which allowed users to search for keywords within a custom object record's text-based fields.
With the addition of the filtered search endpoint, you can leverage both standard and custom fields to create complex queries, which help you find the right custom object records more easily. For example, you could now create queries that return:
- A list of assets assigned to users that aren't within warranty and contain the word "laptop"
- A list of product returns initiated by a specific user in the last 30 days that have a status of open or in progress
Why is Zendesk making this change?
The filtered search endpoint creates the ability for Zendesk users and app developers to build intricate agent experiences with custom objects. This functionality, when paired with the soon-to-be-related end user permissions for custom objects, also means app developers can create customized end-user experiences with custom objects.
What do I need to do?
The filtered search endpoint is available to all accounts eligible for custom objects. You can start using it to build powerful custom object experiences.
