We are excited to announce a significant update for customers still using the legacy "On Behalf Of" (OBO) WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) sharing model. Beginning October 1, 2025, WhatsApp confirmed that it will be migrating all WABAs over to the client-owned model. This change empowers businesses by giving them direct access to their WhatsApp Business Account tools.
What this means for you
- No Disruption to Integrated Numbers: Phone numbers currently integrated with WhatsApp will remain fully functional without any interruption throughout and after the transition.
- Ownership Transfer to Your Business Manager: Ownership of your WABA will be transferred to the Business Manager account you provided when the WABA was originally created. This may require you to request access to your company's business manager if you don't already have access.
- Full Access to WhatsApp Business Features: Post-migration, businesses will gain access to the full suite of WhatsApp Business tools, including:
- OBA Requests: Directly request Official Business Account status.
- Message Template Management: Easily create, edit, appeal, and manage message templates.
- Insights and Analytics: Access in-depth messaging metrics and performance reports to optimize your engagement strategy.
