What is changing?

Changes summary

Before we detail the user experience, here are the key changes in the Views admin page:

  • Replaced Active and Inactive tabs with a new filtering system (including Status), that’s also in other Admin Center pages, such as Triggers and Tickets Fields
  • Reordering option Select Position is replaced by modernized reordering options and a new Create view below option.
  • Increased column limit from 11 to 15.
  • Custom ticket Status column can be added or removed like any other column.

Additionally, we’re improving views CSV exports for accounts using custom ticket statuses by replacing legacy status ID and name columns with a single customizable, user-friendly status field.

There are no changes to permissions for managing views. Users with read-only access to views can see the settings but cannot edit or reorder views.

Changes experience

Let’s review what the changes mean in practice.

When you navigate to the Views admin page, by default, you still see the Active and All Shared views. Above the list of views, you now have the number of views and the filter drawer, to view and set the filters. Reset filters restores the default Active and All Shared views.

You still sort the views by clicking the column headers but you won’t need to sort back by position to be able to reorder the list. You can click to reorder no matter how you’ve sorted the list.

To reorder views, we’re providing a modernized drag-and-drop experience with all views on a single page. You can also select multiple views and move them to the first or last position of the list, using readily accessible arrows.

These improvements, along with a new option, cover the Select Position option that we are removing. The new Create view below option allows you to create a view just below an existing view.

We’ve made the custom Status column more flexible. You can now add or remove it like any other column. To support this change, we’ll update all existing views definitions by adding the status column where it’s missing. This won’t affect what appears in the user interface, as the status column is already displayed on agent and admin pages. However, if you use our API, you may notice this column appearing in the view column output data returned after the update.

The update to add the column will take place between these dates:

November 18, 2025 December 15, 2025

We will also improve views CSV exports for accounts using custom ticket statuses:

  • The legacy ticket status name and ID columns in the views CSV export will be replaced with a single custom ticket status column.
  • Previously, CSV exports showed internal IDs for custom ticket status causing confusion. Some accounts had feature flags to show readable names. Now, all customers will see user-friendly status names in CSV exports.
  • Users can remove the custom ticket status column entirely in the new Views admin page, resulting in no status column in export.

Why is Zendesk making this change?

We’re modernizing Admin Center to give admins a faster, more reliable, and accessible experience. Updating legacy pages like the Views admin page improves stability and performance, speeds up load times, unifies the interface, and supports our accessibility standards.

Additionally, we want to offer a clear, fully customizable CSV export experience, allowing you to completely control the ticket data included in your CSV files.

What do I need to do?

If you rely on our API to get views, please be aware that a new custom ticket status column will be added to the views column output. We recommend assessing any potential impact this may have.

If you use the CSV export, please note the change of how the status column is displayed. If you need more time to adjust your internal processes, you can delay this change for 60 days by filling out this form.
