We're excited to announce the release of the new Jira integration for Zendesk Support. This new integration will bring a new level of flexibility, performance, user experience, and collaboration for Zendesk and Jira users.

The new Jira integration is available for all Jira Cloud accounts that are not already connected to Zendesk. Information will be available soon for customers who have already installed and configured the legacy integration, including details on migrating to the new integration.

This enhancement comes in response to extensive feedback from our valued customers in the Zendesk community.

What's changing?

The new Jira integration brings a modern experience for linking Zendesk and Jira. Admins will have more control, an easier setup, and more powerful features available for agents and admins.

The key new features include:

  • Admin configuration: All admin configuration is now in Zendesk Admin Center. Setup is simpler, and you have more control in one place.
  • Multiple instance support: You can now connect multiple Zendesk accounts to a Jira account, and vice versa.
  • Jira app for Zendesk Support: The new Jira app for Zendesk Support offers a fresh look, faster speed, and supports more features, such as file attachments, comments by issue, and a new way to configure and create issues.
  • Ticket view in Jira: Zendesk ticket view in Jira uses an Atlassian Forge app, which gives better speed and a stronger user experience.
  • Field sync: Field sync between Jira and Zendesk is now more secure and gives clear error reports.

Why is Zendesk making this change?

Zendesk is dedicated to providing a simplified and reliable user experience. This upgrade reflects our commitment to enhancing app design, flow, and data visibility while streamlining the configuration process. 

We listened to your feedback on what needed improvement and are happy to share this new version of the integration. Atlassian is also ending support for Connect apps, so we are moving from our old Connect app to the Forge platform.

What do I need to do?

Starting today, the new Jira integration is available for all Jira Cloud accounts not already connected. If you’d like to use the integration, see Connecting your Jira instance to Zendesk.

No action is required for customers who have already installed and configured the legacy integration. The new integration and migration information will be available for these customers shortly.
