Zendesk is adding a new setting in Admin Center to control API password access for end users.
This announcement contains these topics:
What's changing?
Starting November 10, 2025, admins can control if end users are allowed to make authenticated API requests. If turned off, API requests from end users are considered anonymous. See Turning on and off API access for more information.

Why is Zendesk making this change?
As we prepare for the removal of password access for APIs for team members, we’ve separated end user API access from team member access so that you can control end user access specifically. You have until December 31, 2025 to migrate to either API tokens or OAuth. If you currently have password access for team members turned on, end user access will also be turned on.
What do I need to do?
You don’t have to do anything. This feature is automatically available in your account.
