Possible to automatically export data from within the body of a ticket?

Posted Apr 25, 2022

Hello Zendesk commnuity,

I am working on automating an account setup process that relies on users submitting a ticket through Zendesk for initiation. There is a template that users must follow when submitting the ticket, so there are a couple of pieces of information that are always included in the body of these tickets. I am looking for a way to periodically (either run a few times per day or run off a trigger as soon as a new account setup ticket comes in) scan through the new account request tickets and export the two data points I need to an external spreadsheet (can be Excel, Google Sheets, etc). I was looking at something like Zapier, but I wasn't able to pull specific data from the body of the tickets with this tool. Has anyone out there done anything like this, and if so, do you have any recommendations?

Thank you,

Hi Zachary,

you can fetch information directly from the ticket into custom fields or add tags through patterns in the message. You can set up the trigger to look for only new tickets or every time a ticket is created.

Check out our Ticket Parser App in Zendesk Marketplace:
https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408889250586-How-do-I-create-a-trigger-based-on-a-ticket-subject-

You can use then "Notify Target" to send this data to a webhook for example.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
