What is changing?

The MCP client EAP allows you to connect external MCP servers to your Zendesk instance and incorporate the MCP server's tools in action flows. When an MCP server is connected, Zendesk can take actions or fetch data from those systems. For example:

  • Fetching the current status of a task from Asana
  • Analyzing a bug report in Sentry and using Seer
  • Updating a dispute in Stripe

Zendesk supports both third-party MCP servers, such as Asana, Sentry, or Stipe, and private MCP servers.

For more information, see Connecting to MCP servers and using MCP tools in action flows and Using custom code to process response data from MCP tools in action flows.

Why is Zendesk making this change?

Connecting to an MCP server is a quick way to expand the range of actions you can perform in action flows. In the future, the tools from connected MCP servers will also be available to AI agents, auto assist, and custom agents, which will allow these AI-powered experience to have more flexibility in the tools they use to perform tasks and resolve issues.

What do I need to do?

The EAP is available to customers on all Zendesk Suite and Support plans. To participate in the EAP, you can activate the early access in Admin Center and then create or update action flows to incorporate the MCP tools.
