Zendesk has data centers throughout the globe to meet the performance and data needs of our customers. Each of these data centers contains one or more Pods (points of delivery). Your Zendesk account shares common network and system resources with other Zendesk customers in a given Pod.
This article includes the following sections:
- About Pods
- How do I learn what Pod I am on?
- Can I specify the Pod my Zendesk account is hosted on?
- How do I learn the geographical location of my Pod?
About Pods
You can think of a Pod as a high-rise office building with one Zendesk account occupying each floor. Just as the high-rise provides shared infrastructure like security, electricity, plumbing, and air conditioning for each floor of the building, a Pod provides the security, network, application, and database services shared by multiple Zendesk accounts on that Pod.
This Pod architecture provides maximum performance and stability (service incidents affecting one Pod will not affect customers in other Pods) with the added benefits of faster account provisioning and improved scalability. You can learn more details about Zendesk's technical architecture and Pods in the Help Center article Zendesk scalability and performance: Technical architecture.
How do I learn what Pod I am on?
You can confirm your Zendesk account's Pod by clicking the Admin icon () in your Zendesk account. Your Pod is displayed in the upper-right corner of the Admin home page.
You can also visit the Zendesk Status site, where you can enter your subdomain name to find out which pod you are on.
Can I specify the Pod my Zendesk account is hosted on?
In most cases, the Pod you are hosted in is located in the data center physically closest to your location at signup. However, we do occasionally need to "load balance" certain accounts to other Pods to improve performance, as needed. If you do wish to ensure that your data stays in a certain location, consider our Data Center Location add-on. Select from United States (US)-only and European Economic Area (EEA)-only for the storage of your data.
How do I learn the geographical location of my Pod?
We don't publish this information on our web site, but if you contact Zendesk Customer Support, they can help you out.

How do I learn the geographical location of my pod?
Hey France -
You can go to https://status.zendesk.com/ and enter your subdomain, and it will tell you which pod you're on.
Where is Pod 5?
Tx!
France
Similar to France. Where is Pod 14 located?
regards,
Mark
And Pod 6 please? Is the information on all of your pod locations available online?
Hey Mark and France -
I'm checking around to find out for you. Curious why you need the information on location - is it a compliance concern?
Hey guys -
Official word from the security team is that it's not the best idea for us to publish this info in the forum, however, you can email a request to security@zendesk.com and they'll be able to help you find out where your data lives.
Hi Nicole,
We use many cloud services as part of our service delivery and we need to have this sort of detail for our stakeholders to be able to make informed business decisions.
We are aware of the location of our services delivered by other cloud providers.
regards,
Mark
Thanks for the feedback, Mark.
Paths crossed Nicole. I made my comment as your request to contact security team came through. I will do so.
regards,
Mark
no worries - I figured as much, and recognized that you were responding to my request for clarification on purpose. Glad it's sorted and you've got a path to finding the info you're looking for!
When I click on Data Center Location Add-on link I land on https://www.zendesk.com/support/compare/ webpage.
Where/How can I get "Data Center Location Add-on" ?
Hey Artur!
You'll want to contact your Account Manager; they'll be able to get this set up for you! If you're not sure who your Account Manager is, you can contact our Support team and they'll be able to get you in touch. :)
Thanks Jessie, I have then posted it to support@zendesk.com
Is there an RSS feed that we can use for monitoring? We are trying to combine all the alerting sources we need into a dashboard.
Thanks!
Hi Andrew! Sorry for the delayed response!
We don't have an RSS feed, but we do have our System Status page, which you can subscribe to. You can find the System Status page here: https://status.zendesk.com/
You can find more information about the Status Page and how to subscribe here: About the System Status page
I hope that helps!
Hi Andrew! We have a beta available for Zendesk System Status page API. This is HTTP API for our public status page at status.zendesk.com. This API will allow you to programmatically query the current status of various Zendesk products and services by providing your account's domain.
To participate in the beta and to get information here is the link to Zendesk Status Page API. Please fill out the sign-up form to get exclusive access to the beta program and API documentation.
I look forward to hearing your feedback.
hi guys, when i'm logged in as an idea why not display pod related and compliance informaiton in my profile page etc.
Hi Spencer -
Are you an Administrator on your account?
We have historically always been located on Pod6. However, I noticed today on the status page that it shows (Pod 14*). Does this mean we have temporarily been moved to 14 due to load balancing? Is that what the asterisk means?
Sorry, just saw the asterisk at the bottom of the page. It would be nice though to have an indicator if our Pod has been changed due to load balancing.
Thanks
Hi @Jeff. We periodically move customers between Pods to load balance traffic. This is not a temporary move. Though as our customer count grows and different accounts grow in different Pods, another move may happen again in the future.
Also the asterisk is just pointing to the footnote below the status table which links to the article about "what is a Pod?".
Good idea about the Pod move notification. Out of curiosity, what is your use case for this?
Hope this helps!
Hi Guys,
Where is Pod 15 located?
Regards,
Gary
