When I import contacts in Sell, the companies I added to the file are not linked to existing entries. It looks like the system is creating a new independent company profile.

Resolution steps

This is expected behavior when you import contacts without adding existing company IDs to your file. To avoid this situation, follow these steps when you import contacts in Sell:

  1. Ensure your company exists in Zendesk. If it doesn't exist, create it. The company must exist in Sell before starting your import.
  2. After the company has been created, open its page in Sell. Find the company ID, which is located at the very end of the URL. See the example below.

  3. In your import CSV file, add the company ID in the company_id column.

  4. When mapping your fields, keep the company ID field unmapped. This will pass the information correctly.
