Automatically update links to Help Center articles when titles change

Posted Apr 03, 2023

Hello,

When using the Help Center article feature to link articles, it would be nice if the link text was dynamic and if it was automatically updated when the title of the linked article has changed. This would help us save a lot of time and would be more efficient as we have to do it manually for now.

Thank you.

I am trying to post here but I cannot for some reason.

The URL linked in Ryan's message doesn't work. Can someone provide the link as it was provided in response to the question raised.
Thank you so much!

Here is the error I receive when clicking the link:

Hi @Ryan McGrew

The link under “here” does not work. Can you provide the actual link for the reference on URLs?

See the image of what opens when I click “here”.

Additionally, in my experience to date, the URL does not auto-update the Titling of an article, however yes, the users are still redirected to the correct article.

Thank you for your help!

Hi Ryan,

Thank you for your input. I understand how URLs work in the Help Center but my request was for the "Text on link" to be dynamic (which is not the case at the moment). So for instance, if I change the title of one of my articles, I'd like to have all links with the former title to be updated to the new title if they were added with the "Help Center article" feature.

Please let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you.

Hey Deborah,

I just wanted to clarify how URLs in Help Center work. In short, changes to title will not affect links or customers being able to get to the right article. The thing that matters in the URL is the article, section, category id and not the "slug" portion of the URL. There's some additional information on URLs here. You shouldn't need to go back in and change URLs based on updating things like titles.
