How does this affect SEO
Posted Oct 08, 2024
Hi,
Do you have any idea how this will affect SEO? Since the articles have different article IDs will it then be duplicate content for search engines?
Kind regards,
/Martine

We ensure that article IDs remain unchanged because altering them would change the public URL, which is essential for maintaining SEO integrity and effective scripting. When a customer uses multiplacement to create a new placement for an article, a new copy of the article is generated with a new ID. However, the original article retains its ID in the old placement.
This approach helps mitigate the risk of duplicate content issues. Since the original article ID and URL remain intact for the old placement, search engines can differentiate between the original and the new copies. To further enhance SEO, we recommend using canonical tags or proper linking strategies to clarify which version should be prioritized in search engine indexing.
This way, we can maintain a strong SEO presence while managing multiple placements effectively. I hope that helps.
