Hi all,

 

I wanted to confirm what statuses are affected by the Idle timer? We have a series of custom statuses all set to Away (i.e. Meal Break). We're getting reports from agents that the idle timeout is affecting them even when they're in another custom Away status. Is this expected? I would assume it only impacts people in an “Online” status.

1263213539509 Thanks for the question. Engineering confirmed it is scenario 1 - within the Zendesk tab in a browser. This article has been updated to reflect this as well.

When enabled, the default idle timeout configuration sets an agent's status to away on all channels after 10 minutes of inactivity, where inactivity is defined as no mouse or keyboard interactions within the browser

 

^ does “within the browser” refer to one of the below (or anything else?)?

  1. Within the Zendesk tab
  2. Within the Chrome instance containing the Zendesk tab (no matter which tab is opened, can be Confluence, Jira, etc.)
  3. Within any Chrome instance

This would help sharing expectations to our support team before we enable this feature! Thanks!

Are these items on the roadmap? 

1. Ability to very idle timeout setting by group so different groups who operate in same zendesk but have very different needs will be able to customize this setting for them? 30 min is too short for some groups who often have to work in a different system but still need to monitor phones, but it's almost too long for the agents who run Tier1 support. 

 

2. Ability to designate certain statuses that shoudl not timeout (e.g. “lunch”)

Is there any way to create a trigger/automation that alerts when this happens? Agents get notified within the Zendesk tab, but no way to send an email they're about to go offline. Also, admins don't have any knowledge of this happening

Status changes to "Offline" during breaks or lunch. We set the timeout to 60 minutes to ensure coverage for the maximum duration of breaks, but it appears that this still does not resolve the issue
