Messaging does not support sound notification

When contacting Zendesk support via live chat there is no sound. sound notifications for end-users in Messaging are not supported, this means that when the support agent replies you don't get a notification.

Yes, sound notifications within messaging are something that we have on our roadmap within 2022.  We agree that they will be a great addition to enhance the experience.

Glad to see that I am not the only one that is "bothered" by the lack of sound notifications. Let be honest, no one is going to wait in from of the messaging window for a message to come in, the person will do something else, and once there is a sound go back to messaging to continue the conversation.

I agree. A sound notification for messaging is a priority for our team to be alerted to returning customers.

Hi Miranda & the team at Zendesk, any update on this enhancement for messaging notifications. Its been 7 months since you have last updated on to the other users who are eager for this enhancement. Please do consider this enhancement in the nearest of time.

I don't understand how something like this is not included in the roadmap. Incomprehensible.

Good news!  End user sound notifications are now live for all messaging customers!

If you're an existing messaging customer, you'll need to enable sounds within your Web Widget settings (by checking 'Play notification sounds for new messages').
