Find and replace

已于 2021年5月05日 发布

It seems off that there's no 'find and replace' feature in Zendesk Guide. The editor is very limited in terms of what it can do, is this on the roadmap?

Hi All,

Thank you for all your feedback and comments about Guide Editor, they are very important for us. As I read this thread I see three main requests:

  1. Add more styling functionality to the editor
  2. Add Find & Replace functionality within an article to use while editing it.
  3. Add a quick way to change and replace links, words, and phrases in bulk across the whole knowledge base.

I'm happy to say that improving the editing experience in Guide is one of our main focuses for 2022. Throughout next year, we plan to upgrade our WYSIWIG and change e.g. how we work with tables, add new styling tools, callouts, and more tools to work with images. Prior to enabling all these new capabilities, we have to do some groundwork to ensure that none of the existing content is impacted by the new rich text formatting tool we are implementing. I'm glad to say that this work has already started.

Once we finalize the technical part of this upgrade we should be also able to add Find & Replace feature inside the article editor. Thank you for raising this request in the Community. I've added it to our backlog of editor improvements and I'd expect that it'll be introduced next year as well.

Regarding a quick way to change and replace links, words, and phrases in bulk across the whole knowledge base it sounds to me more like a request for reusing small pieces of content than strictly an editor improvement. Within the content reusability initiative, we are starting to think about placeholder feature that would allow our customers to easily update simple strings across their whole knowledge base. We are at the early stages with this one so I'm not able to confirm any timelines.

Hey everyone, Shawna here from the Product Feedback team. I want to thank you for sharing your ideas about the future state of our product and your passion for "find and replace" to be built. We understand the frustration that comes when the features that you want to see built are not able to be prioritized.

Further, I understand how our recent updates about this feature not being prioritized might have caused frustration because we didn't reference our guidelines in this post. Product feedback that is provided in this space is not guaranteed to be included on any product backlog or roadmaps. While we listen and read every piece of feedback that comes through this forum, in some instances, our product teams need to make the tough decision to work in a direction that is not aligned with a particular piece of feedback. This Community forum is simply for sharing your challenges and how you use the product, but it is not a case/resolution system.

The most recent update from our product team remains our official response to this feature request: we understand the validity of this request however we are not prioritizing this feature at this time. We understand that this decision may be disappointing to those who are interested in this feature.

At this time we are going to close this post for comment since we have the information and interest needed should we ever prioritize this in the future. If you are interested in learning more about what we are building please make sure to check out our Community eventsWhat’s New Community Topic, and Zendesk Updates.

We value your feedback and business, and we look forward to our continued partnership.

1263082203269 What is ZD's long-term plan for popular, yet never addressed feature requests? It's especially frustrating when many of these asks are for functionality that seems like table stakes for any basic content system. It's glaring that this, nor the ability to get notifications when articles are updated have been missing for 7+ years. This is 101 stuff. When can the building blocks be prioritized, instead of the polish?

We went looking for this function when our product rebranded in 2019. Here we are, five years later, ready to launch something new, and the global find + replace is still not available. I don't think I can recommend contract renewal due to these practices.

There have been more than 70 comments and a promise that it will happen in 2021, but we still have no find-and-replace. I now have to purchase a third-party application to do what should be a simple task.

Susan, if I had infinite resources I'd implement it in no time. Unfortunately our roadmap decisions require from us sharp prioritisation and as a result some of the features are worked on. At the moment we are focusing our energy in the following areas:

-1

Katarzyna Karpinska - Can I ask why this is not something that Zendesk wants to ever implement?

Katarzyna Karpinska , It's been nearly two years. Are you still developing this feature? Is it that complicated?

Hi,

For now there is no discussion about an update to this option. But rest assure that we'll let everybody know once we have any improvements related to this one.

Do we have any progress on the "search and replace" or search and delete option?

Hi there! I found this chain after searching for articles related to find ad replace and it looks like there has not been an update in a couple of years, so just checking to see if this is something that is still in the works. Thank you!
