Feature Request: Add the ability to suspend or deactivate Organizations
Posted Jun 08, 2020
Based on the following user comment:
Is there a way to suspend or deactivate Organizations. Our merchants need to be suspended because they do not want to renew their contract. However, we do not want to lose the tickets or information associated with the merchant. We would like to be able to suspend them. Let me know how I can do this.

Feature Request:
Add the ability to suspend or deactivate Organizations
Description/Example/Use Cases/Proof of End-Users Requesting:
Is there a way to suspend or deactivate Organizations. Our merchants need to be suspended because they do not want to renew their contract. However, we do not want to lose the tickets or information associated with the merchant. We would like to be able to suspend them. Let me know how I can do this.
Use Case:
When a customer acquires another customer of ours, we no longer have a need for the organization. While we can suspend each user, we have to manually put an inactive tag on the organization (so we can exclude from certain reports) and put (INACTIVE) at the end of the organization name so we can clearly see it is no longer a valid organization.

Hey everyone, James here from the Zendesk Product Team
I apologize for the delay on our end in providing you with a response to this feature request.
I wanted to add an official comment here to let you know that we are not able to commit to building this feature at this time. I understand this may be frustrating but wanted to ensure we closed this loop to remain transparent.
I'm going to mark this post as “not planned”, but leave it open for further comments and upvotes, I've also added it to our backlog tool to ensure it continue to be evaluated with respect to other feature requests.
If you are interested in learning more about this and other features being built please make sure to check out and follow our Community events, What’s New Community Topic, and Zendesk Updates. Again, I apologize for our delay and appreciate you being a valuable Zendesk Community member.

Yes, please! Our customers are constantly acquiring other customers of ours and on occasion, we have customers that leave us. In both situations, we no longer have a need for the organization. While we can suspend each user, the only thing we can do with the organization is to put an inactive tag on it (so we can exclude from certain reports) and put (INACTIVE) at the end of the organization name so we can clearly see it is no longer a valid organization. Being able to deactivate or suspend an organization would be awesome and allow us to maintain a cleaner and more organized Zendesk.

I totally agree.
It would be nice if we were able to mark an organization as inactive and have an option to mark all users in the organization (that do not have other active organizations) as suspended as well.

Yes, being able to also mark all of the users as suspended at that time would be a great addition as well! it is tedious to go through and mark each one individually.

we need to diffrentiate between active and non active customers (when a customer leaves for instance).
Deleting the org is not a good solution

Is the ability to deactivate a customer (organization) available yet or on the roadmap? This is really necessary in order to easily manage our customers and their ability to log a ticket if their subscription has expired.

I am looking for some community assistance on a workaround and an update from product management on when we can expect this on the roadmap.
There are a couple of issues with deleting the account.
Why we would not want to delete an account
Why suspending or blocking a user does not work for us
How does Zendesk handle this? As you are using this for support I have to assume all of the scenarios listed above impact you as well. How are you addressing it internally?
What does Product Management recommend?
Is this on the roadmap?

We require exactly the same feature, we need to be able to suspend or deactivate an organisation without actually deleting it.
