Duplicate article URLs
Posted Oct 09, 2024
We've also noticed that placing an article in multiple categories categories creates additional URLs for each category it's added to.
So if an article is in 2 categories = 2 article URLs
So if an article is in 3 categories = 3 article URLs
So if an article is in 4 categories = 4 article URLs

Hi Tiffany, yes that's expected current behaviour of the feature. Each placement = new help center article ID, and that means that it'll have a separate URL. A separate ID is needed for e.g. tracking comments and up/downvotes on individual placements.
Can you tell us if you'd expect a different behavior? And if so, why would a different behavior be important for your use case.

Hi Katarzyna,
The main challenge that comes to mind is the new need for us to keep track of multiple URLs. We share knowledge base content with our internal Marketing, Product and other teams and I could see things getting a bit messy with various teams having various URLs. Also, I assume the duplicate URLs means we would have to edit EACH article individually now.

Katarzyna Karpinska can you clarify if we need to edit the article in multiple places?
Do the multiple URLs all link to the same content?

Tiffany Maberry , no, that't the beauty of the multiplacement. The article is updated only once on the admin side and all of the placements of it (HC Ids) are populated with the change after publishing.
