Export reports from Explore
Export a dashboard or report by following the directions in the article: Exporting dashboard tabs and reports.
Export data from Support
To export data directly from the Support product, choose your preferred option from this article: Exporting data to a JSON, CSV, or XML file. See additional information in these articles:

Note: The ability to export data to a JSON, CSV, or XML file is limited to admins on the account.
Export data from Sell
To export data from Sell, follow the directions in this article: Exporting data from Zendesk Sell.
It should be noted that you can now export Sell data from Explore much like you would for other products, and utilize other traditional Explore features.
Exporting data from Guide or Chat

I see articles about exporting tickets but what about importing tickets from another help desk service?

That does help and I've seen that core api import article but I don't see where you would upload said JSON file in ZenDesk
