Question
Why do Explore metrics from the Knowledge base dataset, for example, Article upvotes, show different figures from the current vote count on the article?
Answer
Explore metrics count all vote events when a vote (upvote or downvote) is cast by a user. Users can remove votes or change their existing vote. Votes that have been removed by the user are not captured in the dataset. This means Explore vote metrics might not always match the current vote count on articles.
The table below shows examples of voting scenarios and the corresponding vote events:
Voting scenario | Upvotes | Downvotes | Total votes |
Upvote (1 of 1 user found it useful) | 1 | 0 | 1 |
Downvote (0 of 1 user found it useful) | 0 | 1 | 1 |
Remove vote (0 of 0 user found it useful) | 1 | 1 | 2 |
