Inline article attachments are being localized, meaning they are now associated with a specific translation of an article rather than the article itself. This change enables the embedding of localized attachments in multilingual help centers.
This announcement includes the following topics:
What is changing?
Inline article attachments are now being localized, so they are linked to a specific translation of an article rather than to the article itself. This means that the same image embedded in two different translations of the same article will generate two separate article_attachment records, each with its own unique ID. Both records will be included in the API response. The attachment's locale can be explicitly set via the API during the article_attachment creation. If not explicitly set, the locale will be automatically assigned when the translation's body is modified or published.
Why is Zendesk making this change?
This change is necessary to unlock the potential for embedding localized attachments in multilingual help centers, ensuring that only relevant images are displayed for each specific translation. By assigning unique IDs to each localized attachment, API responses become more detailed and informative.
What do I need to do?
No action is required on your part! All changes will be automatically rolled out for all customers using the Help Center API. For more information, see Article Attachments in the developer documentation.
