We're excited to introduce the change attribute component in the new Explore dashboard builder. Use this powerful tool to "slice" your dashboard data using different attributes without duplicating reports.
This announcement answers the following questions:
What's changing?
In the past, slicing a dashboard by a different attribute (for example, switching from "Assignee" to "Group") meant cloning a report and updating the attribute. This led to cluttered dashboards and a higher maintenance load.
We’re bringing back the much-loved Change Attribute functionality from the legacy dashboard builder, redesigned for the modern dashboard experience. This new component lets editors define attribute alternatives for specific reports and gives viewers the flexibility to switch attributes on the fly, right within the dashboard.
Why is Zendesk making this change?
Today, over 15% of Explore dashboards contain at least one change attribute component in the legacy dashboard builder. This functionality is critical for enabling flexible, dynamic reporting.
With this release, we’re closing a critical gap in the new builder by supporting this key use case. We aim to reduce dashboard clutter, simplify configuration, and empower teams to explore data from multiple perspectives—without duplicating reports.
What do I need to do?
You do not need to take any action. The change attribute component will be available to all Explore users as part of the dashboard builder update.
To get started
- Open your dashboard in the new builder.
- In the Dashboard menu, click + > Change attribute.
