Multi-placement no Save button?
Posted Oct 14, 2024
Hello,
In article editor, when clicking the + button to select the next placement option, once I have selected the Help Centre and the section and category I click Done.
Looking at the sidebar on the right, I click Create Placement and nothing happens. There is no other Save button. If I click the < arrow, I am asked if I am sure I want to leave the page with unsaved changes.
See my steps in the video linked below:

I don't know how to continue?
Thanks for your help and advice.
BR,
Daniel.

Hi,
i have the same issue, I wanted to use it today and “Create Placement” will show a notification like “Created" but in reality it´s not saved. So only you can move the existing placement to another category but adding this article into two categories isn´t doable right now.
If you also have trouble, please link your concern too here.

Same, I think this worked on my first test when the EAP launched, but for the whole past week I can't add any new placements. They just won't save. They actually say that they save, but then you can't get out of the sidebar menu and it asks to “Leave without saving”.
I would conclude that Multiplacement is no longer working or available, at least for us? Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the feedback. We're going to prioritize this problem so it gets fixed soon. Just to confirm, do you not see your UI refreshing with the added placement after hitting the “Create placement” button?

Correct, it says a notification “Article Placement created” but it stay in config mode, with “back” it says changes discard / not saved.

I am observing this behavior the exact same way as Tobias describes, we also see the banner popup of “✅ Article Placement created”, but no article placement is created. The only buttons available on the bottom of the sidebar are “Cancel” or “Create Placement”.
Same result every time “Create Placement” is clicked (false success banner), and clicking “cancel” says “leave without saving?/discard changes”. The other option to go back/exit the sidebar is a back arrow icon at the top of the sidebar, with the same result as the “cancel” button.
The page does not refresh/reload at any time, and doing so manually loses any changes as expected. So, we cannot multi-place articles at this time. Thank you for looking into this!

Daniel Hoult Rebecca Tobias Hermanns we released a bug fix which should resolve this problem. Can you confirm if saving a placement is working as expected?

Hi Orsolya Forster Thank you for letting us know. Having tried again today I have 2 different results:
Could the age of the article have an impact here?

Orsolya Forster , I just tested (with article created in July, edited recently, same one I was trying before) and it did work successfully.
I was going to test more, but I will have to stop short: our team is required to “pin” a knowledge article to every ticket, will this begin to show them duplicate articles (due to multiple placements) or will it show only the main original article/placement in their search results to pin articles? We will not be able to use multiplacement if it will create duplicates to choose from when pinning a relevant article (half of team may select one, half may select another, but they are the “same” article, etc). Any info on this behavior would be helpful for us testing, as I will need to stop if this is the case. Thanks!

Tobias Hermanns , Daniel Hoult can you test again?
Rebecca yes, duplicate articles are expected to show up for now in the knowledge panel. Agents can use the brand filters to avoid duplicates, and they can also follow the breadcrumbs for differentiation.
In the meantime, we're listening to your feedback on the duplicate results in this thread. Please, share your thoughts and ideas, so we can implement a solution best fit for you. Cheers!

Still not working, even a change:
The “Create Placement” is acting now and move back to the “previous site”, but the placement itself is missing (not created) so article is still in one category only.

Now even more worse, when i select a “Placement” category, all “Categorys / Sections” are empty, no more checkbox to select.

Orsolya Forster That is now working for us. The multi-placement has appeared in the additional help centre.
When the article was published in 12 languages in help centre 1, but only 5 of those languages in help centre 2, we see a message that some translations are missing. I presume this is information that the article can't be published in all 12 languages, because we don't have sections in all those languages? In this case, this is expected behaviour as we only want the supported languages to be shown.

Orsolya Forster Does the Help Center Templating API version impact how this feature is implemented at all?
I did not know what you meant by the agents being able to use search filters. I researched and discovered we are using Templating API v1 and I think that's why. Now that I know there are newer versions, I'd like to ask if the multiplacement feature is negatively affected by an older version of the Templating API?

I still encounter the issue, that I can´t add a 2nd placement for an article, I can create it, I can find the 2nd category, I save it, it says “Placement Created” but it´s still not created.
Any more hints or news if it´s still buggy and when I can test it again?
Thanks.
Tobias
