Guide Articles - export to PDF

Posted May 13, 2021

It would be beneficial for Zendesk to provide an option or button for end users and/or agents to download articles to PDF. This is helpful for job aids and learners that prefer a hard copy, in-sight, at their working area.

The third-party applications and API options were either difficult to set up or did not work.

Thanks!

I agree that more than those commenting would be interested in this type of feature. I feel like the ability to easily export as PDF would only make the Help Center more sticky as a product. This would mean the content could literally just be housed in Zendesk without having to worry about storing original copies elsewhere for easy downloads.

I concur that this is a fundamental feature, that should be available as standard.
Say your customerbase works in environments where you don't have easy access to the articles while working, a printed PDF is essential.

This is something we would use as well. It's a common feature found on almost any website with content intended for learning and training.  Please upvote this feature request!

+1, desperately looking for this feature to get into the roadmap. Please confirm with latest updates.

Sorin Alupoaie - it is possible that Help Center Manger can do what I need, but I already pay a bundle for Zendesk. I am a small company and am reluctant to pay for another app just to get an occasional PDF download of my help articles.

+1 to this request. This is something our users have expressed interest in as well and existed in our prior knowledge management system.

As a customer, I believe that it would be beneficial for Zendesk to add functionality allowing customers to export Guide articles in PDF format. This feature would greatly improve the user experience by providing customers with an easy way to save and share important information from their interactions with Zendesk. Additionally, this feature will help product managers and engineers better understand how users are interacting with their products and services since they can track which articles were exported as PDFs.

From a technical standpoint, adding this functionality is relatively simple compared to other features that have been implemented in the past. It requires minimal coding resources while still offering significant value for both customers and support teams alike. Furthermore, it could easily be integrated into existing systems without disrupting current processes or requiring major changes or updates from engineering teams or product managers - making implementation quick and cost-effective overall.

Adding this functionality has numerous benefits for both users of your service as well as your own internal team members who need access to customer data quickly and efficiently; therefore I strongly urge you consider implementing such a feature in order increase engagement levels among existing clients while also attracting new ones due its ease of use when compared against traditional methods of exporting article content manually via copy/paste operations etc.. Thank you once again considering this proposal!

+1 for this functionality. Disappointing that this is not a standard feature so far.

unfortunately not an answer to when Zendesk will support this out of the box but the company I'm working for has a lot of expertise in running PDF export infrastructure and we're currently rolling out a pilot project that allows agents or end-users to download print-ready PDFs of your knowledge base. DM/email me if you'd like to give it a try frank@canary-apps.com

2 Years later, still hoping...

OpenedX has this figured out with a very elegant export feature. Cheers for open source.

This feature would be very useful for our customers who require printed copies. We want their printed copies to be up to date with our guides.

Can someone from Zendesk tell us why this isn't on the roadmap yet?  It seems that many users are looking for this feature.  Is there a reason it isn't being prioritized?  Thank you!

Not a long time ago I wrote a blog post explaining how to enable PDF export for Zendesk Help Center Articles.

Hope it helps!

Sorin Alupoaie thanks for sharing your blog post! We recently launched a User Resource Library topic in our community that would be a great place to share your blog :) Would you mind creating a new post under that topic with a quick summary of your blog and then sharing a link where users can find out more?

Thanks!

Brett Bowser thank you for suggesting this. There it is here!

Would love to be able to export as PDF and documents. I wish we could export articles in the format that we have in zendesk. the fact that images don't copy well into google docs is so frustrating when we need to collaborate on edits with other users.

Also really need to be able to easily download articles to keep copies or share easily.

Also wish we could import zip files or multiple PDFs/documents into guide - especially because we can't replicate the sandbox for guides.

Seems crazy that this is not part of the core software

Our client also requests this as they share some articles with a customer representation group during yearly meetings. We would not want to have access for these customers to our internal-facing KB. Exporting by Print Page in Chrome is horrible formatting. Export to PDF would be super helpful!

Today we are forced to print pages to PDF using the preview mode.

Sadly you added a watermark (div id live-preview-container) that hides a part of the article that we are printing to PDF.

Releasing this feature would be super helpful for those who need to review the articles and cannot have access to Guide.
